Same body, different material. steel 3/8 Sch 40 = STD, and stainless 3/8 Sch 40S are the same 0.091 in wall on the same 0.675 in / 17.145 mm body; steel 3/8 Sch 80 = XS, and stainless 3/8 Sch 80S are the same 0.126 in wall on the same 0.675 in / 17.145 mm body. A caliper cannot separate them — what the pipe is made of does.
