How a value gets published
- The number is read out of the source's own table by a parser written for that table's geometry — not by a general-purpose summariser. (One early table was summarised rather than parsed and invented a conflict that did not exist; the lesson is recorded in the project log.)
- Millimetres are derived from the inch value × 25.4, never copied.
- Two independent sources must agree exactly. Same publisher, same syndicated chart or a copy of another site's table does not count as independent.
- Geometry is checked: bore = OD − 2 × wall, and where a source prints its own ID column, all three must close.
- Conflicts and single-source values are recorded as unverified and stay out of the published tables — what that means for you.
Sources we looked at and did not use
Listing these is the point of the page: an absent number here is usually a decision, not an oversight.
- engineersedge.com — ASTM B88 copper table — Four tables on the page carry the same heading, so a K/L/M type cannot be attributed to a row with certainty. Copper is not published here at all rather than published with a guessed type.
- kanchansales.com — clean OD/ID/wall tables — Those tables are headed ASTM B819 (drawn welded tube), not B88 water tube. Different standard, different wall series.
- muellerstreamline.com, lacounty.gov specification text — Weight and pressure prose, or a PDF list — no dimension table to parse.
- formufit.com PVC chart · pandapipe.com · baolaipipes.com — JavaScript shell with no table in the HTML, a 404, and a 403 bot block. A value we cannot read independently is not a second source.
- Pirated ASME/ASTM standard PDFs (file-sharing sites) — They exist and were not used. A reference site that leans on a stolen copy of the standard it cites cannot claim to be a source. The published tables above agree with each other; the documents themselves remain the authority to buy.

Values are facts, and the dimension tables were re-published here in our own layout with our own derived columns; the source names and links above credit where each number was confirmed. Standards documents themselves (ASME, ASTM, ISO) are copyrighted and are not reproduced.
