Cookie policy

This is a short page, because there is short news: this site sets no cookies. Not analytics cookies, not preference cookies, not advertising cookies. Nothing is stored in your browser by us.

What we store in your browser

Nothing. No response from this site carries a Set-Cookieheader, and no script writes to localStorage,sessionStorage or IndexedDB. What you type into the tools stays in the open page: reload and the fields are empty again. The reverse lookup is the one exception by design — it reads its measurement from the address (/lookup/reverse?od=21.3), so a result can be shared as a link without anything having to be remembered about the person who opens it.

Because there is nothing to consent to, there is no consent banner. A banner asking permission to do nothing would be noise with a cookie icon on it.

Third-party cookies

None are placed today: every asset on every page is served from this domain, so loading a page here contacts one server and nothing else. Links to the publications we cite are ordinary links — following them takes you to a third party under their own policy, not ours.

What would change if advertising were added

If we ever serve ads, third parties including Google would be able to place and read cookies when their ads appear on this site, and would use cookies to show ads that are more relevant to you — including based on visits to other sites. That is the point at which this page would need to say more, so it would be updated first, and visitors in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland would be asked for consent before any personalised-ad cookie was set.
